पुणे - "वनस्पतींचा नाश होत असल्यामुळे शहरांमधील तापमान वाढत आहे,'' असे प्रतिपादन ज्येष्ठ वनस्पतीतज्ज्ञ डॉ. एस. आर. यादव यांनी शनिवारी येथे केले. ""या समस्येतून मार्ग काढण्यासाठी शहरांमध्ये जैववैविध्य उद्याने तयार केली पाहिजेत,'' असा उपायही त्यांनी सांगितला. प्रा. श्री. द. महाजन लिखित "देशी वृक्ष' या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन डॉ. यादव यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले. त्या प्रसंगी ते बोलत होते. या वेळी माजी केंद्रीय मंत्री सुरेश प्रभू, राज्याचे मुख्य वनसंरक्षक सुरेश थोरात, ज्येष्ठ साहित्यिक डॉ. अनिल अवचट, "नेचर वॉक' संस्थेचे अनुज खरे आणि पराग महाजन उपस्थित होते. डॉ. यादव म्हणाले, ""वनस्पतींबद्दल लोकांची अनास्था वाढत आहे. पश्‍चिम घाटातील दोन हजार वनस्पती विनाशाच्या मार्गावर आहेत. पश्‍चिम घाटातील जैव वैविधतेवर काम करणारी कोणतीही केंद्रीय संस्था नाही. पश्‍चिम घाट हा "हॉटेस्ट स्पॉट' झाला आहे. म्हणजे तेथील सत्तर टक्के जंगल नष्ट झाले आहे. विकासाच्या नावाखाली वृक्षतोड होत आहे. हा सुंदर पश्‍चिम घाट आपण वाचवू शकू का, अशी भीती आहे.'' ड...

एक सुंदर वृक्ष म्हणून बहाव्याची सर्वत्र ख्याती आहे. शास्त्रीय नाव: Cassia fistula L. कुळ: Caesalpinaceae मराठी नाव: बहावा, कर्णिकार. वर्णन बहाव्याचा वृक्ष साधारण ८ ते १० मी. पर्यंत उंच वाढतो. पाने संयुक्तपर्णी समसंख्य असून ४ ते ८ पर्णिकांच्या जोड्या मिळून एक पान बनते. हिवाळ्यात वृक्ष पर्णहीन असतो. बहाव्याच्या, अंगुराच्या झुपक्यासारख्या दिसणार्‍या पिवळ्या फुलांचे सौंदर्य वेड लावणारे असते. फुलांच्या सोनेरी रंगामुळे हा वृक्ष 'Golden shower tree' म्हणून ओळखला जातो. बहाव्याचे फुलोरे अर्धा हात लांब आणि लोंबणारे असतात. फुलांच्या परागीभवनानंतर वाटोळ्या पण लांबलचक शेंगा तयार होतात. शेंगेत अनेक आडवे कप्पे असतात आणि प्रत्येक कप्प्यात मऊ गरात दडलेली एक बी असते. उपयोग: 1.कर्णिकाराच्या मोठ्या खोडापासून इमारती लाकूड मिळते. 2.बहाव्याची साल कातडे कमावण्याच्या उपयोगी आहे. 3.शेंगेतला गर सारक औषध म्हणून उपयोगी आहे, तसेच तंबाखूला स्वाद आणण्यासाठी गर वापरतात.

कडुनिंबाच्या अर्कामुळे कीटकांच्या अंडी, अळी, कोष अशा विविध अवस्थांच्या वाढीस वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारे अडथळे निर्माण होतात, त्यांचे नैसर्गिकरीत्या नियंत्रण होते. एकात्मिक कीड व्यवस्थापनासाठी कडुनिंबाचा वापरास मोठ्या प्रमाणावर वाव आहे. कडुनिंब (Azadirachta indica) या वृक्षाचे मूळ स्थान भारतीय उपखंड, ब्रह्मदेश आहे. महोगनी कुळातील हा वृक्ष १५-२० मी., क्वचितप्रसंगी ३५-४० मी. उंच वाढतो. जवळपास वर्षभर हरित राहणारा वृक्ष चांगलाच काटक आहे. कडुनिंब जवळपास सर्व प्रकारच्या माती प्रकारात वाढू शकतो. चांगली निचरा होणारी वालुकामय जमीन जास्त मानवते. राजस्थान, विदर्भासारख्या कडक उन्हाळ्याच्या प्रदेशात ४५ ते ४७ अंश तापमानही तो सहन करू शकतो. वऱ्हाडात महत्त्वाच्या रस्त्याच्या दुतर्फा मोठ्या प्रमाणात हे वृक्ष दिमाखाने उभे असून, ते कडक उन्हाळ्यातही वाटसरूंना शीतलता देतात; मात्र चार अंश सेल्सिअसखालचे तापमान त्याला मानवत नाही. थंडी, धुक्‍यामुळे मोठाले वृक्षही करपून जातात. बहुपयोगी वृक्ष कडुनिंब हा वृक्ष "दैवी वृक्ष,' "रोगनिवारक,' "निसर्गाचा दवाखाना,' "खेड्यातला दवाखाना' समजला जातो...

आपल्याला अजुन प्रकर्षाने जाणवत नसला तरी शहरांमधील कचरा हा एक अतिशय गुंतागुंतीचा व गंभीर प्रश्ण बनत चालला आहे, त्या विषयी थोडेसे. अनेक जणांकडुन ऐकले की असा कचरा कुजुन मातीत मिसळायला ६-८ महिने लागतात, कल्चर वपरले तर ही प्रक्रिया २-३ महिन्यांत पुर्ण होते. मला माहीती असलेले गांडुळ खत तर मला नको होते. जलसाक्षर गाव उन्हाळा आला आहे. ज्या गावांमध्ये पाऊस विशेष पडत नाही अशा गावांमध्ये तर या दिवसांत बरेचदा पाण्याचा प्रश्‍न निर्माण होतोच, पण ज्या गावांमध्ये भरपूर पाऊस पडतो, अशा ठिकाणीही बरेचदा पाणलोटाच्या कामाअभावी दुष्काळी परिस्थिती निर्माण होते. या परिस्थितीवर मात करण्यासाठी महाराष्ट्रातील अनेक गावांनी पाणलोटाचा अभिनव उपक्रम राबवला, या गावांमध्ये परभणी जिल्ह्यातील गणेशवाडी या गावाचा अग्रक्रमाने उल्लेख करावा लागेल. गावाच्या जमिनीत पाणी अडविण्यासाठी बांध आणि पाणी जिरवण्यासाठी वृक्षारोपणासारखे चांगले उपक्रम या गावाने सरकारी मदतीची अपेक्षा न ठेवता राबवले. गणेशवाडी हे जेमतेम पन्नास उंबरठ्यांचे गाव. या गावात आधीच पाऊसमान कमी. पाणी नसल्यामुळे गावकऱ्यांचे खूप हाल होत असत. गावात पिण्याच्या पाण्याचाच मोठा प्रश्‍न होता, त्यामुळे लग्नकार्येही होत नव्हती. माणसांना, गुराढोरांना पाणी प्यायलाही नव्हते. जनावरे पाळणेही कठीण झाले होते. महिलांना पाण्यासाठी खूप पायपीट करावी लागायची. या गावातील लोकांनी शासनाकडे पाण्यासंदर्भात खूप तक्रारी केल्या. त्यानंतर चार किलोमीटर अंतरावरून पाणी आणणारी नळ योजना गा...

पाणी बचतीचे सिरसी मॉडेल महाराष्ट्रातील अनेक गावांम ध्ये पाण्याची समस्या नेहमी उद्‌भवते. ज्या गावांमध्ये किंवा शहरांमध्ये ही समस्या नसते, त्यांना अशा गावांमधील लोकांचे दुःख उमगत नाही. अशा गावांमध्ये बरेच वेळा, "आमच्या गावचं काय सांगू? पानी लई लांबधरनं आणाया लागतंय बगा, सरकार काही ध्यानच देत नाही. गावात सतत दुष्काळ पडतोय; पण ऐकायलाच कुणी नाही. गुरं तडफडून मरत्यात. प्यायला पाणी मिळणंही मुश्‍कील, सरकार काही करत नाही, काय करायचं आम्ही?' असे संवाद हमखास ऐकायला मिळतात. पाणी म्हणजे जीवन, त्यामुळे पाणीच नसेल तर एखाद्या गावाची काय दशा होते, हे उन्हाळ्यात दिसतेच. याउलट काही ठिकाणी निसर्गतःच पाणी जास्त असते; पण त्या पाण्याचे व्यवस्थापन कसे करायचे हेच माहीत नसते. एखादा भाग दुष्काळी असतो; पण जेवढा पाऊस तिथे पडतो, त्याचे पाणी कसे साठवायचे याचे शास्त्रशुद्ध शिक्षण लोकांना नसते. बरेचदा पावसाचे पाणी वाहून जातानाच दिसते. पाण्याचे नियोजन, जलसाक्षरता याबाबत मोठ्या माणसांना जागरूक करायला पाहिजेच; पण लहान मुलांनाही जलसाक्षर केले तर त्यांना पाणी कसे वापरावे, याचे वळण लागेल. म्हणूनच असा एक अनोखा प्रयो...

On 10 th Apr 2009, there was a family event of NAMING CEREMORY of Amol Kulkarni’s Daughter. Amol had designed & displayed some banners of Vrukshayan, which were very nice. As a Return gift Amol & Family gave Saplings of Tulash , this is really a nice start to make people aware. As a team Vrukshayan we had small speech, given by Sachin & Vikram. We had explained subj ect of Need of Urban Plantatio n , in short, with w ll wishes to baby named Siyonaa . For Vrukshayan, We got sound response on the day.   We distributed around   10-12 saplings. A family asked us for collecting trees grown by them(will be soon collecting those).
